For years I have been planning something special. A Electronic Berlin/Ambient night of Music. I now have the possibility to do this in my hometown theater ‘t Tejaterke. Many might know this from concerts with John Kerr and the Dutchmasters festival! Planning is to make a special evening/Night concert that will go on until 8.00/9.00 in the morning nonstop with a mix of great electronic musicians. Here comes the question, would you be up for this, price will be low and you can enter and go during the night if you want to and enter in later at night again. It will not be rock and Roll but the warm sequencer driven, and more ambient music. You can listen, sleep, doze off or even read during this night. And in the morning for those who want to there will be a breakfast with all artists that performed. If this is something you would be interested in then please let me know. To give you an idea we would need about 50/60 guests that night!! Mail me ron@groove.nl New Grooves!! Now instock and ready to ship!! BONUS – Sequencer Improvisation – Rehearsal for Bocholt BONUS – The Trip – Live@E-Live Michael Brückner made a great impression video for this release!! Check it out! https://youtu.be/ER0Ij-a9aHA In the autumn of 2018, P‘Faun was invited to play live on two events – E-Live Festival, then still located at De Enck in Oirschot, The Netherlands, and Dinosaurier-Treffen in Bocholt, Germany – on two consecutive weekends. On both occasions guitarist Sammy David, drummer Tommy Betzler and keyboarder / synthesist Michael Brückner were joined by their good friend, percussionist and soundscaper Volker Lankow. While both concerts were kindly received by their audiences, the band was haunted by technical problems, which made performing (and recording) challenging. It had been the original plan to release both concerts – which had different setlists – as a double live CD, but only about 60% of the concert at E-Live was properly recorded, so the first two tracks ( “The Trip” and the “So Ham” part of the medley) were taken from rehearsal recordings. Nonetheless, the excitement, drive and inventiveness of the band in full filght is well preserved… NEW and info on the Catalog Earthstar – Collected Works (5CD Box) https://www.groove.nl/shop/earthstar-collected-works-5cd-box/?v=796834e7a283 CD1 “Salterbarty Tales”: CD2 “French Skyline”: (the one we all have been waiting for!!) CD3 “Atomkraft? Nein, Danke!”: CD4 “Humans Only”: CD5 “Sleeper The Nightlifer”: Earthstar was an interesting project by American musician Craig Wuest. The band was assigned to the genre of electronic and ambient music. Although the musicians from Utica, N.Y. came, many people pigeonholed them as Krautrock. The band itself came out as ardent admirers of this style of music, especially of electronic artists such as Neu, Cluster, Roedelius and, above all, Klaus Schulze. Craig Wuest contacted Klaus Schulze, who was so impressed by Earthstar’s talent that he invited the band to Germany to record and market their music. The first Earthstar album “Salterbarty Tales” (1978) was released on the US label Moontower Records, parts of the second album “French Skyline” were recorded in Utica, but the album was released in 1979 on the renowned German Sky label Günther Körber. Earthstar and Klaus Schulze worked together until 1982, when the musicians returned to their home countries and each went their own way. The band Earthstar was history. Til today. Because now all 4 studio albums (“Salterbarty Tales”, “French Skyline”, “Atomkraft? No Thanks!”, “Humans Only”) are available on CD for the first time as “Collected Works” and therefore also digitally in a box. As a bonus there is the previously unreleased album “Sleeper The Nightlifer”, which was rejected by the record company in 1979 because the recordings “would no longer correspond stylistically to the taste of Earthstar fans”. An interesting discovery! Earthstar’s complete work from 1978 to 1982 plus previously unreleased recordings including an extensive booklet on the band’s history, lovingly restored and mastered by Johannes Scheibenreif, for the first time on CD. Well we just received the mail from DIN that the CD is almost sold out so we will not be re-stocked. So with just 8 copies left of the CD it’s gone is gone! The Vinyl version is still in plenty available. Here a small reminder of this brilliant release. Benge – The View From Vega https://www.groove.nl/shop/benge-the-view-from-vega/?v=796834e7a283 Ben Edwards, better known by his pseudonym Benge, has been exploring the sonic possibilities of electronic instruments since he was a young boy, in the1970s. After graduating from art school in 1990 he set up his own music studio and started recording his unique blend of experimental electronica, culminating in his debut album “Electro-Orgoustic Music” and the formation of Expanding Records in 1995. Since then he has released dozens of albums as Benge, as well as collaborating with various luminaries from the electronic music world on many other album projects. He has formed several notable and ongoing bands such as John Foxx & The Maths, Wrangler (with Stephen Mallinder / Cabaret Voltaire and Phil Winter / Tunng), Fader (with Neil Arthur / Blancmange), and his most recent project Creep Show (Wrangler + John Grant). Benge’s creative output now centres around his Memetune Studio Complex, located in one of the UKs remotest moorland locations, writing and producing his various music projects as well as making video art and TV programmes about his activities. “The View From Vega”, his debut solo album on the DiN imprint, is primarily an ambient suite of tracks inspired by the space-music typically produced in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It uses a selection of vintage synthesisers, sequencers and FX units to provide a fertile sonic landscape to explore. The idea was to use simple sequences (using both analogue and digital units), sustained synthesiser pads and electronic piano improvisations, alongside various ancient delay, flange and reverb units. The beautiful, warm quality of the tones that exude from such instruments are very evident on the six tracks that slowly unfold their oscillations in organic, melodic soundscapes. An unashamedly vintage sounding album in all its analogue glory, “The View From Vega” is released both as a 180g Vinyl edition and a Digipak CD with stunning artwork from Wendy Carroll that matches the music perfectly. |
