Drifting between synthesizer states in a darksome minor key, chords sigh then ascend skyward over building banks of sequencer runs. Pulsing patterns circle and cycle in motor precision as celestial synth-bourne leads and spacey spiraling effects further charge this work. Amidst the metronome tempo and echoing arpeggios “Transience” enjoys a deep zone mind melt. With so many sounds in motion it is here that Chuck van Zyl advances vibrantly in his own striking assertion of life. The energy arcing and sparking through “Transience” is an appeal to the psyche. Pink Floyd debuted The Dark Side Of The Moon suite live on 20 January 1972 at the Brighton Dome. Partway through, when playing ‘Money’, a lack of power led to the backing tape slowing down and going out of time, causing the group to stop. On 29 June the band broke off from recording sessions for the album to make a return visit to Brighton for a brace of shows at the Dome, to make up for the disappointment of the first public performance of the piece there failing. This is a document of the second concert that Pink Floyd performed at the Dome in June 1972, including a performance of The Dark Side Of The Moon suite in its entirety and versions of the earlier Psychedelic freakouts ‘Careful With That Axe Eugene’ and ‘One Of These Days’. ========================= Cluster – Konzerte 1972 / 1977 (Live) https://www.groove.nl/shop/cluster-konzerte-1972-1977-live/?v=1a13105b7e4e  The two authorized recordings presented here vividly conjure up the atmosphere, perhaps even the magic, of a Cluster performance back in the day. One took place in 1977 during a science fiction festival in Metz (France). The other dates back to an earlier show in Hamburg’s Fabrik venue. Cluster played three gigs in the city in 1971/1972, including the one partially included on “Cluster II”. Cluster shows routinely lasted six hours or more, luring both the band and the audience into a state of intoxication, no doubt acutely enhanced by the intake of certain substances. The buzzwords of the moment were: psychedelic, magical, ritualistic, corresponding more or less to the Dionysian hedonism which pervades certain styles of contemporary music culture today.
