Eela Craig – A Spaceman Came Travelling (3 CD Set)
https://www.groove.nl/shop/eela-craig-a-spaceman-came-travelling-3-cd-set/?v=1a13105b7e4e

More than 250 concerts in 7 countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Romania) have made the Austrian progressive rock legend EELA CRAIG an internationally acclaimed band. The stages range from renowned opera houses such as the Frankfurt Opera and the Hamburg Opera to the Philharmonie Berlin and major venues such as the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Stadthalle Vienna and the Wiener Festwochen. The diversity of their musical journey is also reflected in international appearances, including Zurich, Istanbul, Bucharest and the renowned “Sagra Musicale Umbra” festival in Perugia, Italy. From 1971 to 1980, EELA CRAIG released five studio albums, and in 1978 the band ventured into a “rock mass” with “Missa Universalis”: a multilingual high mass in a strict liturgical style with instrumental use of electronics and elements of rock music. The mass includes all parts of the Ordinary of the Mass and makes use of the prescribed standard texts in Latin, German, English and French. Old chorale and Bruckner motifs can be heard in the compositions. The performance of the “Missa Universalis” at the 1978 International Bruckner Festival met with an extraordinary response. Die Zeit wrote at the time: “Pop music conquered the Brucknerfest 1978 with “Missa Universalis””. The Münchener Merkur wrote: “EELA CRAIG’s music is a perfect blend of old forms and new sounds New sounds. This group goes further than Pink Floyd, their imagination is bigger and more expansive.”

In November 1981, Schulze was scheduled to go on a 2-week tour through Germany,
the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and France, which was to end in the “Audimax Hamburg”. Multi- instrumentalist Manuel Göttsching accompanied Klaus on tour as a special guest. This audio recording of the Hamburg Audimax concert was originally intended as a spontaneous, internal documentation; as a nice souvenir for everyone of a wonderful tour and now, after more than 40 years, allows all fans to share in the wonderful memories. With this in mind, we wish you – certainly also on behalf of Klaus and Manuel – a safe journey. Bon Voyage!

Hamburg’s kosmische custodians at Bureau B proudly welcome legendary synth maestro Peter Baumann back into the studio for his first solo album since Machines Of Desire (2016). A defining force in the Berlin School of electronic music, both as a member of Tangerine Dream in their most essential era, and as a solo artist, Baumann has always bridged the cerebral and the cinematic. With Nightfall, he embarks on another sonic odyssey, crafting an atmospheric album steeped in mystery and evocative storytelling.

Mixed and additional production by Sebastian Lee Philipp / Die Wilde Jagd.

Agree to disagree: A selected Krautrock discography! Krautrock, what is it anyway? A genre, a derogative term, a song by Faust, … or: a welcome (and recurring) opportunity to talk about all of this. The music associated with the term in question has eagerly been canonized. From the enthusiastic and idiosyncratic ramblings of Julian Cope’s “Krautrocksampler” to encyclopaedic approaches like Alan and Stephen Freeman’s “Crack in the Cosmic Egg”, there are plenty of books to read and lists to discuss: Who’s in, who isn’t? The quarrels and disputes surrounding the terms “Krautrock” and “Kosmische Musik” are a testament to their enduring relevance and fascination. I won’t get into the weeds discussing how to separate one from the other – for all those who do want to, the book “Krautrock Eruption” by Wolfgang Seidel addresses some of those questions. In this book, you will find an annotated discography of fifty albums. Out of these fifty, we are presenting an even narrower selection of tracks from twelve albums on this compilation. Lists and compilation track listings inevitably see tracks missing and being left out. In our case, the compilation was produced in cooperation with the label Bureau B and therefore has a partial focus on some of their back catalogue. That said, the list is meant to inspire repeated or further listening, to spark discussions and – potentially – to provoke new lists, perhaps your own! It’s all part of the fun. Music is made for enjoyment in the first and for friendly debate in the second place, after all.
