New Releases in the Catalog Spyra – Tau https://www.groove.nl/shop/spyra-tau/?v=1a13105b7e4e 1. Logischer Garten – (9:42) 2. TPAU – (13:43) 3. Rhodes Intermezzo (05:56) 4. TAU (14:19) 5. MOST (09:37) 6. Neumann Etude (07:47) 7. Radar Live (12:20) Spyra’s new album TAU is part three of the CD trilogy STAUB – DUNST – TAU, which has already found critical acclaim for bringing new impulses for the ancient art of Berlin School Sequenzermusik. While STAUB was severely reduced to the maxim of minimalist sequences, recorded as one shot studio sessions without any overdubs, DUNST welcomed the listener with a more lush arrangement of analogue sound-spheres, combined with deep drones and slow beats! – In the third part TAU, Spyra allows himself again to partly spoil his audiences’ ears with sparkling sequences in the style of “Crystal lake”, but reinterpreted in his own unique manner. Lush Synthesizer strings, cosmic noises go hand in hand with inspYring Synth solos, not denying the underlying principle, that the flow of such music cannot be fully composed, but must develop within the inherent process of playing it ! Spyra is well-known for consistently refining and cultivating his own distinctive approach on classic electronic music. His philosophy on creating music is best summarized in the following statement: “To craft your own sonic garden, don’t try to play God. Instead, think of yourself as a gardener. Sow your seeds in the right places, nurture and water your saplings, watch them grow, and occasionally prune a branch or remove unwanted weeds. Developing self-discipline is essential to becoming a skilled composer of electronic music.” If you appreciate electronic music from the 70s and are willing to accept that time has moved onward since then, you might quite likely feel attracted to Spyra’s newest album TAU, which offers a similar flow, but at the same time an elegant, cool and modern approach hardly to be found anywhere else on this Planet. ========================================= Electric Orange – Ada https://www.groove.nl/shop/electric-orange-ada/?v=1a13105b7e4e 1. Henry’s bead 06:44 2. Dead farm 04:37 3. Erebus 05:48 4. Card punch 04:08 5. Ada 05:50 6. Lucid frames 06:12 7. Tage der selbstmumifizierung 09:52 When the sense of space and time disappears… Psychedelic sounds merge into an endless tapestry of sound, nothing can really be categorized here. It doesn’t have to be, better switch off your head. Only rarely do records like “ada” appear that offer seemingly endless opportunities to dream away – because there is so much history in them: “The new album is something like the essence of over 30 years of Electric Orange,” explains Dirk Jan Müller, who started the long-lasting project back in 1992 in Aachen and later developed it into a great band. Electric Orange are clearly rooted in the Krautrock of the seventies (and also use some of the equipment from this era), so many tracks are reminiscent of the well-known legends of the genre: Can, Tangerine Dream, Amon Düül – a mixture of everything the band members love. In this world, every groove is even better when you play it for minutes on end. Electric Orange’s music is constantly evolving, spherical sounds come in and go out again… or are replaced by experimental wah-wah guitars. Space sound effects? Movie samples? Yes! Electric Orange reveal an expansive world and then lead the listener through it; their music is both driving and dreamy at the same time. Dirk Jan Müller: Analogue & Modular Synthesizers, Farfisa Compact, Mellotron, Audio Generator, Bass on tracks 1,2 Dirk Bittner: Electric & Acoustic Guitars, 11-string guitar, Vocals, Voice, Trumpet, Percussion, Banjo, Thai Khim Werner Wieczorek: Electric Bass, Backing Vocals, Guitar on Track 2 Eric Karow: Drums, Backing Vocals Frederic Gerchambeau – Alcheringa https://www.groove.nl/shop/frederic-gerchambeau-alcheringa/?v=1a13105b7e4e 1 – Enter The Cave 8’31 2 – Into The Dark 8’39 3 – Hail To The Great Rainbow Snake 7’05 4 – On My To Nowhere 7’52 5 – No Time, No Space 6’01 6 – The Infinite Land Of Light 5’34 7 – Being Another Me 6’33 8 – Kissing The Sun 7’09 9 – Back Into The Dull World 6’32 10 -Remembering 7’38 Alcheringa is a vast musical odyssey, lasting a total of 72 minutes, with the theme of what the Australian Aborigines call the Dreamtime. The Dreamtime, Alcheringa, is the central point, the fundamental axis around which the cosmology and mythology of this people is articulated. Alcheringa is everywhere, at the beginning of everything and at the center of everything. The Dreamtime is timeless and both here and now. Alcheringa is indescribable yet our ultimate reality. The Great Rainbow Serpent reigns supreme over the Dreamtime. ==================================== Frederic Gerchambeau – Qilak Sky Ciel https://www.groove.nl/shop/frederic-gerchambeau-qilak-sky-ciel/?v=1a13105b7e4e 1-Ulluriaq Star Star 7’51 2-Kataujak Rainbow Rainbow 7’27 3-Tauvigjuaq The Great Darkness La Grande Obscurité 10’24 4-Siqniq Sun Sun 7’49 5-Taqqiq Moon Moon 7’48 6-Unnuaq Night Night 7’58 7-Aqsarniq Northern Light Aurora Borealis 7’57 Qilak continues, in its own way, the line of my previous solo albums already inspired by the work of American minimalists Steve Reich and Terry Riley. That is to say, more clearly, that we will find neither melodies nor layers, only improvisations made on an analog sequencer itself integrated into a Eurorack modular system equipped with a powerful echo device. On this basis, as a dressing and additional pleasure for the ear, are superimposed various additions created with Audacity. This excellent free software thus serving both as a recording studio and a sound laboratory. Qilak being made up of 7 pieces, it is therefore as many sequential improvisations fleshed out and transformed which are offered to listen to. Listening which must be peaceful and attentive in order to follow with gentleness and flexibility the evolution and the meanders of each of these improvisations. ==================================== Frank Ayers – Footnotes https://www.groove.nl/shop/frank-ayers-footnotes/?v=1a13105b7e4e 1-Tycho Conspiracy Part 1 (5’32) 2-Tycho Conspiracy Part 2 (6’18) 3-Down to Enceladus (8’05) 4-The Love Capsule (3’26) 5-Exit From Clark’s Belt (7’40) 6-Tycho Conspiracy Part 3 (6’51) 7-The Clouds of Titan (5’08) 8-Enter The Solar Winds (4’03) 9-Fra Mauro (3’00) Remixing and remastering of an old album project, a thrilling adventure in our solar system.
