And WHAT a release!!! Steve says: “These 60 minutes of live electronic/ambient music were inspired by cosmic metal band Blood Incantation’s invitation to cross the bridge of genre limitations and unleash our sonic passions together on the same stage for the premiere of their new album; it was an opportunity to present my music to a new audience. The set was built from elements of my 2024 US tour performed in large cathedrals and churches, compressing it into a hyperblending of constant shapeshifting.; from mystical deep ambience, to multilayered sequencer-woven trance, to tribal and acoustic-infused dreamtime realms.” DECIBEL magazine’s Cosmo Lee writes, “This is beyond perfect! Metal band with mystical leanings befriends their synth spirit animal. Mystical friends play together in a mystical town literally a mile high. One of them is named Roach. Roach is a giant in new age/ambient music. I own 25 of his albums. I was curious how a 69-year- old with keyboards would come off live. He turned the theater into a cathedral. Serene desert sounds gave way to classic pro g synths, then gentle tribal rhythms, then transcendental space. The rousing response afterwards seemed to genuinely surprise him.” Steve again: “The moment I walked out on stage, I could feel the energy unleashing on all levels. An emotional sense of crossing into a hyper present state of focus – the place I love so much about the live ex- perience. As the set unfolded, the response of the audience became fuel for the moment. It’s all here on this live recording like no other in my catalog as we cross the bridge together!” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Jeff Greinke – Late Rain https://www.groove.nl/shop/jeff-greinke-late-rain/?v=1a13105b7e4e Since the mid 80s, acclaimed ambient artist Jeff Greinke has been releasing compelling albums of evocative and seductive atmospheric music. On Late Rain, his 25th release, four featured musicians bring an abundance of acoustic instruments to Greinke’s electronic sound- scapes for an extraordinarily textural, hauntingly ethereal, and wonderfully organic music that is both ambient and alive. Jeff Greinke • synths, samplers, processing Heather Bentley • viola Greg Campbell • drums, percussion, cornet, French horn James DeJoie • clarinets, flute, alto sax Bill Horist • electric guitar Following 2024’s OCEANIC, where Greinke performed all the music himself, he envisioned a follow-up release based around an ensemble. Inspired to create a vibrantly energetic group sound, he enlisted four exceptionally skilled, intuitive musicians out of the Seattle new music scene to take part in his sonic adventure. Greinke sent each song-sketches from which to work out their parts. He later gathered everyone in a Seattle studio to record a live session of the album. This was the ensemble’s first meeting; in not knowing what the others had been working on, an excited anticipatory charge was felt in the room. Greinke created an enticing environment for the players to interact within, working around his open-ended compositions. A spirited, imaginative musical alchemy was captured during that session culminating in an album unlike anything in Greinke’s catalog. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Lightwave – Cites Analogues (LP & CD Versions) https://www.groove.nl/shop/lightwave-cites-analogues/?v=1a13105b7e4e https://www.groove.nl/shop/lightwave-cites-analogues-lp/?v=1a13105b7e4e In the story of electronic music – and especially that with a more experimental, ambient viewpoint – the name of Lightwave will not be known to many. Christoph Harbonnier and Christian Wittman released their first album, Modular Experiments, in 1987, after which they recorded Cités Analogues in April and May 1988. It was released as a cassette. Their relative neglect is a mystery, but the restoration of this album should ensure their profile is raised. Bureau B have done the duo proud with a reissue on LP, CD and download. Their press release lists an inventory of RSF, ARP, Roland and Oberheim modular systems, mixed on A&H 12/2 and recorded to tape on a Revox B77 tape machine – a complex set-up but one aimed at what they describe as ‘a concept album, comprising of a series of discrete compositions and atmospheres assembled into two continuous tracks. The tracks are split out a little by dividers, with field recordings and tape processing softening the join between sections. This is a fascinating listen, and if you didn’t already know you might suspect that Cités Analogues had been recorded in the last year, such is its reach and originality. Whether they work in long or short form the duo make subtly shifting soundscapes that are unexpectedly intense in their realization. On occasion they hit some winsome grooves, as in the slow but elastic Le Purvis. Agora is lost in thought, musing over a slowly shifting bass, while the eerie Polycentre and activity of News are at once complementary. Cités Analogues itself is an effective long form piece, its quarter-hour duration packed full of ideas and fragments that are given an assured and compelling development. As the album evolves Lightwave create soundscapes with industrial roots but with added splashes of instrumental colour. These are especially evident on Ophelia, a dream sequence with feather-light textures, suspended in mid-air. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Rüdiger Lorenz – Synrise Early Tape Recordings 1981-83 (lp&CD versions) https://www.groove.nl/shop/rudiger-lorenz-synrise-early-tape-recordings-1981-83/?v=1a13105b7e4e https://www.groove.nl/shop/rudiger-lorenz-synrise-early-tape-recordings-1981-83-lp/?v=1a13105b7e4e Although Rüdiger impressed as a member of a local beat group in the 1970s, increasing exposure to artists such as Neu!, Tangerine Dream, Reich and Riley pushed him towards electronic and experimental music, a style better suited to his solitary temperament. In the search for sonic expression, he overcame his lack of electrical knowledge and courageously continued to solder organs, effects units and self-built effects units and self-built modular systems, all in the service of his specific sound. So what exactly is Synrise’s sound? Selected from his first four releases, “Queen of Saba” (1981), “Silver Steps” (1981), “Wonderflower” (1982) and “Earthrise” (1983), this offers Septet of sci-fi hymns and sine wave requiems, nebulous cosmic collages of buzzing rhythm boxes and gurgling sequences and synthesized choirs, although originally released on four different cassettes, these seven tracks all belong to the same sonic universe – just not the one we live in. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Joy Division – These Days in Paris Experience the hauntingly beautiful album “These Days In Paris” by Joy Division, released by Laser Media. Through detuned synths, droning guitars, and shimmering infinite washes, the album is kaleidoscopic, soaking, submerging and surrounding the auditory senses. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Harald Grosskopf – Monsieur Séquenceur (Book) Book 240 pages Language: German In 1966, as a student, Harald Grosskopf shared the stage at a beat festival with Rudolf Schenker, who later became world-famous as the Scorpions guitarist, but his life’s path initially led the drummer and “electronic engineer” into the counterculture spheres of Kraut (The Kosmische Kuriere ) or prog rock (Wallenstein). In “Monsieur Séquenceur” Grosskopf relives important phases of Federal Republic music and counterculture history from the late 1960s to the present day. In his autobiography, Grosskopf tells in detail, dazzlingly and full of humor about his time in the so-called Berlin School (Ashra, Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream), which earned him the nickname “Monsieur Séquenceur” for his ultra-precise drumming, and about his excursions in the Neue Deutsche Welle or from the world-famous jazz festival in Montreux, where he accompanied his admirers from the techno scene, Ralf Hildentaschen and Oliver Lieb. Grosskopf talks about tours around the world and also reports on his current artistic work. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx E-Day 2025 – 31st of May – Oirschot xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Artist: Evening concerts: THORSTEN QUAESCHNING • PAUL FRICK • HARALD GROSSKOPF (Germany) Beyond Berlin (Martin Peters and Rene de Bakker (NL) Afternoon concerts: Ian Boddy & Ron Boots (featuring Harold vs Heijden) (NL) Wega (Alexander Hardt) (Germany) Start 13.00 (Doors open at 12.00) De Stoelen Dans (Former Enck) Tickets now available! https://www.groove.nl/shop/e-day-2025-31th-of-may-2025-ticket/?v=1a13105b7e4e DO I GET A “REAL” TICKET?
