Journeys Out of the Body is a set of deep atmospheres from Steve Jolliffe. Composed and created after a series of experiences that extended his awareness of other realities, Jolliffe had several out-of-body dreams in 1981 that he describes as being “half awake” and that energized his creativity and enhanced his artistic performances. The music on this CD confirms those statements. The soundscapes are smooth and dreamy with expansive atmospheres and organic textures. Jolliffe enhances his electronics with smooth acoustics from flutes and guitars. His saxophone is forgettable, but does not detract from the quality of this release. It will appeal to fans of John Flomer, Kevin Braheny, and Jon Jenkins.
